We bring you warm greetings from STEi (pronounced as style) Foundation, a young and promising Pan African Nonprofit Organization. STEi Foundation is an acronym for Sustainable TransEnvironment International Foundation, which was officially certified by the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of Nigeria, in September, 2017.
Already, STEi Foundation has a representation in Thirteen (13) African Countries, namely: Ghana, Tanzania, Tunisia, South Africa, Cameron, Angola, Mauritius, Kenya, Rwanda, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and Nigeria. Nigeria is the seat of STEi Foundation’s Corporate Governance, headquarters at the Premises of Makurdi Club on No. 3, Ason Bur Street, Off Kashim Ibrahim Way, Old GRA, Makurdi in Benue State of Nigeria. We also have a satellite office in Awka, Anambra State, South East, Nigeria.
No doubt that, natural resources management (NRM) stands for a sustainable use of materials that come from nature (i.e. land, forest, wildlife, wetland/watersheds, etc.) towards optimizing their economic, social and cultural values for both present and future human generations. However, the ever-increasing human requirements for economic and socio-cultural benefits, are putting high demands on natural resources. Such a situation creates environmentally related issues including incessant social conflicts, primarily due to conflicting claims for natural resources use by individuals and communities. For example, on the continent of Africa, increasing anthropogenic activities are resulting to over-depletion of natural resources; increases in anthropogenic climate change impacts, etc; and these factors threaten human societies, human survival and well-being.
We at STEi Foundation are hopeful that, if a natural resource such as a tropical forest (for example), is used in a sustainable manner, the resource can supply the critical raw materials that are needed to grow any African country’s economy, protect biodiversity, conserve wetland/watershed, bring food security to communities and boost community livelihoods. It is consequent upon the foregoing that, STEi Foundation is established to contribute to greening the environment and empowering the women and young people in rural Africa. This is our overall objective. The outcomes from the aforementioned goal will contribute to supporting economically viable, socially acceptable and ecologically sound natural resources conservation in Africa.
The above goal shall drive our corporate passion, as a Pan African nonprofit entity via our mandate of: Environmental Advocacy, Community Capacity Building and Geospatial Researching; so as to promote: (a) the principle of sustainable development and (b) enhance contemporary measures for climate change adaptation and mitigation, especially, in rural African communities.
Lest I forget, I would like to inform you, that STEi Foundation’s core values are: Advocacy, Partnership, Concord, Diversity, Innovation, Inspiration, Livelihood enrichment, Passion, Stewardship, and Transparency.
